5 e-learning trends

I participated in an intersting seminar last week. These top 5 e-learning trends were mentioned:

  • Rapid learning: 72% of all training events are time critical. That means tools that allow for easy creation of content will become more important.
  • Blended learning: Instead of having either instructor-led courses OR computer based training OR online meetings it should be obvioius that using the right tool for the right job is what we need.
  • Collaborative Development: Team work using collaborative environments enables Subject Matter Experts to profit from pre-defined processes, templates, and workflows. E-learning modules can be recycled, and easily be updated or translated.
  • Learning on demand: Communities and personal learning space will become more important in the future where people receive the information they seek just in time. Companies need to provide the infrastructure and processes to support this demand.
  • Enterprise wide use: E-learning will no longer be the creation of another isolated course module. But an enterprise wide content strategy will determine which contents will be published.
